
Our Brookside property is under the supervision of Office Manager Caroline Standen and The Evans property is handled by Valorie Johnson. Their duties include handling all inquiries and applications for our communities, collecting and receipting for rent payments, completing the required regulatory documents of HUD and South Dakota Housing and Development Authority, recording all work requests from our residents, and working closely with the Tenant Councils to provide programming and events throughout each month.
Our Maintenance crew is lead by Supervisor Bill Atkinson and includes Mike Kurgan and Steve Gross in Hot Springs and Clayton Horst in Edgemont. Together these men maintain our buildings’ electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating, carpentry, and landscaping systems year-round. Although normal working hours are weekdays from 7:00 am through the afternoon, emergency repairs and seasonal grounds work will be done as needed nights and weekends. Our staff takes great pride in the quality and timeliness of their work and smiles usually abound as they move around the sites.
Director Greg Foust's career has included 5 years with the Baptist Home Association, Warren Village and Mercy Housing in Denver, and Presbyterian SeniorCare and Crossgates, Inc. in Pennsylvania. Along the way have been senior properties, single-parent households, special needs populations and traditional multi-family communities. Transition from handwritten certification forms through the early days of computer software and into web-based applications have been accomplished and Greg supervised two software transitions with Mercy Housing. In 1988, Greg was recognized by HUD’s Region 8 office in Denver as Manager of the Year. He has also been active with the Affordable Housing Management Association – Rocky Mountain Region and the Colorado chapter of American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Greg achieved the level of Certified Consultant with software-developer Product Data Systems and Certified Occupancy Specialist through the National Center for Housing Management.
Oversight of the management and planning for the organization is provided by Housing Commissioners, who are appointed by Hot Springs City Council and/or Fall River County Commission. Chairman of the Housing Commissioners now is Rev. Mark Crossman. Other Commissioners for Hot Spings Housing are James Stevens, Jean Meadows, David Batchelor and Wayne Baker. The Fall River Housing Commissioners include Rev. Crossman, Mr. Stevens, Mrs. Meadows, Mr. Batchelor and Terri Hollenbeck. The Housing Commissioners meet monthly, usually on the second Wednesday, at the Brookside property, where the public is invited to attend.
